Endgame

Since the game began
I can see
more of what’s black and white.
As you take-away
another piece
I-lose-my-will to even try.
It doesn’t matter which
games we play
they-always wind-up the same.
And try as I might
I can’t outplay
you’re cunning endgame.

Planning out your endgame – always a move ahead.
Planning out your endgame – can’t get inside your head.
Planning out your endgame – the writing’s on the wall.
Planning out your endgame – I’m about to take a fall.

Deck stacked against me
once again,
you’re holding all the cards.
You’re-double-dealing play,
secretly-I pray,
you’ll come down really hard.
But your luck holds fast,
my bets are off,
can’t stem your lucky streak.
They say: Lucky at cards,
unlucky in love,
a shame we played for keeps.

CHORUS

It’s a whole new ballgame,
but I fear,
you’ve got the jump on me again.
The ball’s in my court,
it’s hit-or-miss
why can’t I get an even break?
It doesn’t matter which
games we play
they-always wind-up the same.
And try as I might
I can’t outplay
you’re cunning endgame.
