Five Hours ’round Midnight

Made one promise too many, but I can’t break my word.
‘tween a rock an’a hard place, take a ride to Tyburn.
Gotta pick up a package, after the sun’s gone down.
Racin’ with the Devil, give Him the runaround.

Burnin’ rubber and a candle at both ends,
no idea how this tiger ride will end:

Five hours ’round Midnight.

With the pedal to the metal, wind and rain lashin’ hard,
stay tight ‘n’ frosty, don’t drop your guard.
The midnight bells chime through the blackness of night.
Can’t stop or slowdown, keep on drivin’ for daylight.

PRE-CHORUS

CHORUS

The longest way around is the shortest way home.
No mistake, no backtrackin’ – give that dog a bone!
New day breakin’ to wind up/finish the last lap,
There’s no winners but at least you lost the Devil at your back.

PRE-CHORUS

CHORUS
