History
The inspiration for this song actually came from a reality series, where a contestant became emotional after being released from the show.
In (for me, at least) a rare moment, the melody came before the words, which followed quickly afterwards, and only a couple of hours honing was required from the first draft.
The song is split into three main parts. The introductory verse setting the scene, the large stanza a snapshot of the emotional outpourings, and the last verse summing up the situation, which is pretty much unchanged, except for the loss of faith in the intervening time.

————— DISCARDS ——————

you’re the cure for my heartache

All I WANT’s to get you back

How to GET you back to me

But that doesn’t change the fact,
that I only want you back

Stroke your hair and know you’re mine

the bitter WORDs I spat out/at you
and the BITTER words I said,
bought this whole thing on my head.

there’s never been a X sun rise
I don’t see any sun rise
that I’ll wake up next to you

that when I wake up next time
you’ll be lying in sun rise

But alTHOUGH the days pass by
I’ve never seen another sun rise
