I got a jacky/Bourbon in my left hand, got a Johnny/Whisky in my right
Got you spinnin’ ’round my mind, I’ve bin sittin’ here all night.
Give my level-best to forget you, by poisonin’ my brain,
but my memories are stubborn, branded deep by your bright flame.
Got a thousand reasons to leave you,
just a single one to stay.
Guess the power of love is too strong,
‘cos love will win the day.
My friends ask if I’m happy, ‘n’ I flash a practised smile
‘n’ talk about the weather like it’s goin’ out of style.
But they know just as I do, I’ve got something on my mind,
an’ though I try to hide it, they ain’t dumb an’ they ain’t blind.
Our friends have kids ‘n’ break up, but we stay true an’ wed,
guess they suffered slings an’ arrows while I was fighting my own head.
The years have turned to decades, our hair is thin ‘n’ grey,
as I drink my double whisky I’ve just one thing left to say:
